Long Live the Gediz Delta!
Objective
To build a strong connection between the residents and decision-makers of Izmir and the Gediz Delta, ensuring its protection is integrated into all urban and agricultural development plans.
Context and challenges
The Gediz Delta, a wetland of international importance designated under the Ramsar Convention, is threatened by urban expansion and agricultural activities. This project aims to raise awareness among the public and decision-makers to ensure its long-term protection.

The project promotes collective awareness and environmental responsibility, strengthening the conservation of wetland habitats and enhancing the delta’s ecological resilience in the face of human pressures.

Doga Dernegi
Founded in 2002 in Izmir, Doga Dernegi is a well-established Turkish NGO and a partner of BirdLife International. It works to protect biodiversity and bird species, manages protected areas, and promotes sustainable practices. With a team of 17 staff members and a large membership base, its work is grounded in science and public engagement.
